In 1917 in Turin, Giuseppe Ratti, photographer of his state and owner of the Berry optics store, embarked on an adventure destined for international success. He began manufacturing technically advanced eyewear designed to meet the comfort, protection and vision requirements of aviators and sports pilots. The successive evolution of the Protector model, guided by intuition and the desire to create sunglasses that are truly revolutionary in terms of quality and comfort, led to the creation of the Persol brand (which means "for the sun" to emphasize the sun protection function).

The female image of Persol was entrusted in the early 90s to the great actress Ornella Muti, for whom Persol created glasses that were a huge success (the elegant model 830) then, in the years 93-94, to an exceptional model, Carol Alt. A personalized model is also dedicated to her: the model Carol 853.
